Recover properly. Train without limits.
Sports massage and recovery with Niamh Broad, Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist and former British Junior Champion weightlifter. Based at Unity Gym near Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Recovery that fits your training.
Broad Recovery is a sports massage and recovery service run by Niamh Broad, Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist, from Unity Gym, Embsay Mills.
Every session, from sports massage to mobility work, is built around what your body needs that week rather than a fixed script. The goal is simple: fewer niggles, better movement, and training you can keep showing up for.
Illustrative, based on benefits commonly reported alongside regular sports massage. Not a clinical measurement, and individual results vary.
Niamh Broad.

What sports massage can do for you.
Eases muscle tightness
Targeted work on tight or overworked muscles, whether that's from heavy lifting, running or a desk job.
Supports recovery after training
Post-event massage can ease the perceived tightness and soreness that follows a hard session, including DOMS.
Keeps you consistent
Regular maintenance sessions help you keep training week after week, instead of training through discomfort.
The Broad Recovery way.
Athlete-led
Run by a former competitive weightlifter who understands training load, not just anatomy.
Properly qualified
Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist, trained specifically for sport and performance recovery.
Tailored, not templated
Every session is adjusted to how you're training and what your body is telling you that week.
In the gym you train in
Based at Unity Gym, Embsay Mills, so recovery fits around training, not the other way round.
Real technique, not guesswork.
Every session draws on a set of trained techniques, applied to what your body needs that day.
Effleurage
Long, gliding strokes used at the start and end of a session to warm the tissue and assess how it's feeling before deeper work begins.
Petrissage
Kneading and lifting the soft tissue to release tension that's built up through training, work or everyday posture.
Frictions
Focused pressure applied directly to specific tissue, used where tension or tightness is sitting in one particular spot.
Tapotement
Rhythmic tapping used to stimulate the muscle, often as part of pre-event preparation.
Compressions
Controlled pressure applied across a muscle group to encourage blood flow and ease tightness.
Soft-tissue work
Hands-on work with the muscles and the tissue around them, adjusted to your posture, training load and how you're moving that week.
